Robert Henry Garwood was born on January 29, 1875 in LaPorte, Indiana. He married Eva Marie Rotzien on September 30, 1896. He died at the age of 74 on January 6, 1949. He is buried in Door Village Cemetery in LaPorte. More research is required.
He operated a saloon at 412 Adams Street.

Premature Explosion at Laporte Results From Play.
LAPORTE, Ind., July 6.—As the result of a premature explosion of powder with which he was playing, Theodore Garwood, 10 years old, son of Robert Garwood, saloon keeper, is lying wounded at the hospital. There is little hope of his recovery. The boy had filled an old pump with powder and stones when the explosion occurred. A large part of his face was torn away and both eyes were destroyed. South Bend News-Times, July 6, 1915. Note: It appears that Theodore survived the explosion, as his lifespan is recorded from November 10, 1904 to December 2, 1976.

Robert Garwood took over the business sometime after 1910.
The building is now Shooters Bar & Grill as of 2025. The people in this undated photo are unidentified, but they are most likely Charles Smith and his wife.
