There is a George Wagner listed in the 1880 U.S. Census, recorded as being born in 1878 and residing in Jackson Township, Porter County, Indiana. This could potentially be him, as he would have been about 22 years old in 1900.
Could it also be Gustav H. Wagner, who was a bottler in La Porte under the name Spahn & Wagner from 1892 to 1896? This one remains a real mystery.
