We’ve only done a little research on this one so far.

The 1911 Huntington, Indiana, city directory shows that the proprietors of this bottling works were Adam Herrberg and his son, Joseph H. Herrberg. In 1911, it was located at 438 E. Tipton Street.

Adam’s obituary is shown below:

“Adam Herrberg, pioneer resident of Huntington and partner in the bottling firm of Herrberg & Son, passed away at his home at Tipton and Shall streets Sunday evening about 11 o’clock. Death was due to paralysis, the deceased having suffered the fatal stroke about a week ago.

Adam Herrberg was born May 16, 1841, in Arbes-Buedesheim, Gross Herzogtum Hessen Darmstadt, Germany. He came to this country in May of 1860 and came to Huntington on November 4, 1860—the day Abraham Lincoln was elected President of the United States. He married Anna Elizabeth Kauff, who died June 11, 1912. Three children were born to this union: Joseph H., Frank J., and Emilia M. Three brothers, Peter, Joseph, and George, also survive him.

The deceased was a member of SS Peter & Paul’s Catholic Church and of the Holy Name Society. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday morning at 9 o’clock, Rev. W. C. Miller officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Calvary.”

Joseph’s obituary is shown below:

“Joseph H. Herrberg dies of indigestion at home of sister.
Prominent bottling works proprietor of this city died at his home at 454 E. Tipton Street at 6:30 Saturday evening. He was suddenly taken ill with acute indigestion Saturday morning which affect his hearth and caused death.

Mr. Herrberg was born at Peru, Indiana on April 13, 1866, to Adam and Elizabeth Herrberg. He was never married and made his home with his sister, Amelia Herrberg. He is survived by his sister and by a brother, Frank Herrberg of Milwaukee. He was a member of the SS Peter and Paul’s Church, the Holy Name Society, the Knights of Columbus, and the Elks. The funeral will be held at the SS Peter and Paul’s Church at 9 o’clock Tuesday morning with the Rev. M.P. Louen in charge. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary.” — The Huntington Press, May 25, 1924.
