According to U.S. Census records and his obituary, Christian Telschow was born on May 29, 1856, in Brandenburg, Germany. He immigrated to the United States in 1881 and married Ida Koeppe (1855–1942) on November 7, 1886, in Chicago.

The 1900 U.S. Census lists him as a farmer, and by 1910 he is recorded as a milk peddler. Before moving to Michigan City, he operated the Pleasant Valley Dairy, which his obituary describes as being located about five miles east of Michigan City. The exact location of this dairy is still unclear.

After relocating to Michigan City, he continued operating a dairy under his own name at 508 Holliday Street. This remained the business address until 1923, when he retired from the dairy business.

Christian Telschow died on September 13, 1939, in Michigan City and is buried in Greenwood Cemetery.
